Get the peace of mind that comes from having a certified home inspector check out your potential home. One of the scariest parts of home-buying is the "What If?" What if I buy a new home and find out in a month that the electrical had issues? or the water heater was at the end of its life? While there are no guarantees that nothing will go wrong in the future, we will do everything in our power to alert you with our detailed inspection of any existing problems before you buy and give you peace of mind in your purchase.
After more than a decade maintaining and inspecting large, multiple building facilities, there is very little that we have not seen. From building inspecting, fire/smoke safety and construction completion walk-thrus, commercial buildings are our specialty. Any building up to 20,000 square feet and two floors (three depending on roof access and size) is fair game.
Radon is a colorless, odorless, tasteless radioactive gas that's formed during the natural breakdown of uranium in soil, rock, and water. Radon exits the ground and can seep into your home through cracks and holes in the foundation. Radon gas can also contaminate well water.
Health officials have determined that radon gas is a carcinogen that can cause lung cancer. Studies show that radon is more of a risk to smokers, but nonsmokers have a slightly elevated chance of developing lung cancer when radon levels in the home are high.
The only way to find out if your house contains radon gas is to perform radon tests. A small device will be dropped off several days before the inspection, it will sit unobtrusively in the lowest living area. You will receive a state of the art lab result as part of your comprehensive inspection report.
Thermal imaging allows us to see into areas that are typically impossible to view. Thermal images can detect temperature variations unseen to the eye. The Thermal Imaging camera is used to highlight areas that may be wet or hot. Once a section is identified, additional research can be done to correct any potential problems.
Our cameras can help to identify critical issues such as: plumbing leaks, poor air circulation and overloaded electrical panels.
Residential energy use occurs in various sources of the home. Refrigeration, appliances, water heaters and lights all use energy as does space conditioning (heating and cooling). If you are interested in understanding or reducing your energy consumption, you may want to complete a home energy audit with your inspection.
